Air-source heat pumps in Rochdale & Greater Manchester
The most efficient way to heat a modern home — and it cools too. As a business that came from heating, running costs are what we care about most. We'll tell you honestly whether a heat pump is right for your property.
Heating that's 300–400% efficient
A gas boiler is, at best, around 90% efficient — you always get less heat out than the energy you put in. A heat pump flips that on its head: it moves heat rather than burning fuel, so for every 1kW of electricity it draws, it delivers roughly 3–4kW of heat into your home.
That efficiency is why heat pumps are central to the UK's move away from gas — and why the government pays a £7,500 grant towards installing one.
- £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant handled for you
- Works efficiently even in cold Pennine winters
- Lower carbon footprint and future-proof heating
- Air-to-air options that cool in summer too

Air conditioning vs heat pump — which is right?
Both use heat-pump technology. The difference is how the heat is delivered.
Air-to-air (air con)
- Heats & cools individual rooms
- Fast to install, minimal disruption
- Great for extensions & offices
- No grant, but low install cost
Air-to-water heat pump
- Feeds radiators & hot water
- Whole-home heating replacement
- £7,500 government grant
- Best long-term running costs

Heat pump FAQs
How much can I get from the Boiler Upgrade Scheme?
The government's Boiler Upgrade Scheme offers a £7,500 grant towards an air-source heat pump in England and Wales, paid to your installer and taken off your quote. Eligibility depends on your property and having a valid EPC without outstanding insulation recommendations.
Are air-source heat pumps cheaper to run than gas?
A heat pump delivers around 3–4 units of heat for every unit of electricity, so despite electricity costing more per unit than gas, a well-designed system can match or beat a gas boiler on running costs — especially with a smart tariff.
Will a heat pump keep my house warm in winter?
Yes. Modern air-source heat pumps work efficiently well below freezing. The key is a proper heat-loss survey and correct sizing, which we carry out before quoting.
What's the difference between an air-con unit and a heat pump?
They share the same core technology. An air-to-air system (air conditioning) heats and cools rooms directly; an air-to-water heat pump feeds your radiators and hot water. We advise on which suits your home.
